CARLOS PEZ
Carlos Pez González studied dance in Madrid, Amsterdam and Brussels. He graduated in 2000 at the School for New Dance Development. He participated at Dance Web 2000 (Vienna) and at Encontro que eu nosso 2001 (Lisbon).
He has worked amongst other artists with Vera Mantero, Thomas Plishcke, Olga de Soto, Les Ballets C. de la B., Xavier le Roi, Alice Chauchat, Jérôme Bel and Charlotte vanden Eyden,
Between 2002-03 he became artist-in-residence at wpzimmer (Antwerp). He participated at The Journey 2004, project for young choreographers from the mediterranean area. Since 2002 he has been doing several projects in collaboration with visual artists Edurne Rubio and Nadia Schnock and choreographers Lilia Mestre and Mustafa Kaplan.
In June 2004 he presented Already played tomorrow. Project co-created with Alexandre Théry. This is a solo project developed through “versions” done by different performers in their mother tongue. There is a French, German, Spanish, Turkish, Flemish and Estonian version. With the Estonian version, Margus Toomla, received the best Estonian dancer 2004 award.
In 2007, Pez premiered the duet W (arning), created and performed with Alexandre Théry and the performance/installation 3 Plateaux as a co-creation with visual artist Simon Siegmann which includes 3 versions of Already played tomorrow.
For 2007-08 he received a research grant by the Flemish Community in Brussels. He got the grant to develop the project "To be an artist you need to speak English" based on the circulation of artistic dialogue and cultural exchange.
