"W is tall… quite tall. He has long arms and legs without an end…and…he wears striped socks."
Taking as a base a film of Jacques Tati, in particular the actions of one character in the film, we developed a new scenario for a solo piece called W(arning).
Alex and Carlos embody, explain and dance this solo. A solo that perhaps was already presented or that will be shown but one which, in any case, they are doing on the stage . It is in this double movement between the cinema and the theatre, in the space between the two that the spectacle takes place.
We tell this solo as a succession of “tableaux” tied to a concept of temporality (the solo proceeds over 7 days). We move the narrative plot to bring movements, signs and body-gestures, which accompany the speech, in the foreground. On the one hand, to ensure that these movements, signs and body-gestures (commonly secondary in their relation to the text, which they support or underline) come first. On the other hand, by releasing the text from the concern of the narrative, it becomes a source of transformation of the perception of the body.
One might perhaps says that W(arning) is not a spectacle “on translation” but a spectacle “in translation”

Vertrekkend van een film van Jacques Tati en in het bijzonder van de acties van één van de personages, ontwikkelen Pez & Théry een nieuw scenario voor een solostuk:*W (arning)*.
Pez & Théry belichamen deze solo, verklaren hem, dansen hem. Een solo die misschien al gepresenteerd werd of dat zal worden maar die zich, in elk geval, nu reeds voordoet op scène. Het is in deze dubbele beweging tussen de cinema en het theater, in de ruimte tussen die twee dat de voorstelling plaats grijpt.
Pez & Théry vertellen de solo als een opeenvolging van beelden verbonden door een notie van tijd (de solo omspant 7 dagen). Ze verschuiven de narratieve verhaallijn om bewegingen, tekens en gebaren op de voorgrond te krijgen. Enerzijds om er zeker van te zijn dat deze bewegingen, tekens en gebaren (die gewoonlijk een dienende rol hebben in relatie tot de tekst, die ze ondersteunen of onderstrepen) op de eerste plaats komen. Anderzijds wordt de tekst, door hem te bevrijden van het puur narratieve, een bron van transformatie van de waarneming van het lichaam.
Men zou misschien kunnen zeggen dat W (arning) geen voorstelling is "over vertaling", maar een voorstelling "in vertaling".

À partir d’un film de Jacques Tati et tout particulièrement des actions d’un de ses protagonistes, nous avons développé un nouveau scénario pour un soliste, intitulé W (arning). Alex et Carlos incarnent, expliquent, dansent ce solo, un solo qui peut-être a été déjà présenté ou qui va se présenter, et qui, en tout cas, est en train de se produire sur la scène. C’est dans ce mouvement d’aller-retour entre le cinéma et le théâtre, dans cet espace entre les deux que le spectacle prend place.
Nous racontons ce solo comme une succession de tableaux liés par une notion de temporalité (le solo se déroule en 7 jours), et déplaçons l’enjeu narratif du récit vers la mise en avant des signes et des gestes qui accompagnent le discours. D’un côté, faire que des mouvements, des signes, des gestes corporels secondaires dans leur rapport commun à la parole (qu’ils soutiennent ou soulignent) deviennent premiers ; de l’autre, en faisant que la parole se libère du souci de la narration, faire qu’elle devienne source de transformation de la perception du corps.
On pourra, peut-être, dire que W (arning) n’est pas un spectacle "on translation" mais un spectacle "in translation".

A partir de una película de Jacques Tati y concretamente a partir de las acciones de uno de sus personajes, hemos desarrollado un guión para un solo, titulado W (arning). Alex y Carlos encarnan, explican, bailan este solo, un solo que quizás ya se presento o que va a presentarse, y que, en cualquier caso, esta ocurriendo en el escenario. En este doble movimiento entre el cine y el teatro, en este espacio entre los dos el espectáculo toma forma.
Contamos este solo, como una sucesión de cuadros vinculados por una noción de temporalidad : el solo se desarrolla en 7 días. Desplazamos la narración del relato hacia la puesta en escena de las señales y gestos que acompañan el discurso. Por una parte, hacer que estas señales y gestos corporales pasen de un segundo a un primer plano en su relación al texto. Del otro, hacer que el texto se libere de la narración, convirtiéndose en una fuente de transformación de la percepción del cuerpo.
Se podría decir que W (arning) no es un espectáculo 'on translation' pero es un espectáculo 'in translation'.
